If you have ever had a client look at you in desperation and say, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me,” or ask, “Why do I do these things,” then you understand the value of gaining access to the unconscious mind. This is one of the things that Milton Erickson did better than anyone else. As one of the world’s most capable hypnotherapists, he was known for his deft use of advanced hypnotic procedures, such as automatic writing and amnesic barriers, to assist in uncovering hidden secrets and transformational therapeutic leads. But even Erickson’s own protégés have struggled to replicate such an impactful form of assessment. After years of research and experimentation, Dan Short has discovered how to achieve an equivalent form of therapeutic assessment using methods that the average professional can master with practice. Although spontaneous trance states sometimes emerge, hypnosis is not necessary for these powerful tools of discovery.
The term “therapeutic assessment” is reserved for those strategies that produce measurable psychological benefit even as the therapist collects information. The term “depth assessment” means that the client cannot rely on conscious knowledge in order to convey information needed for therapy. In this workshop, participants will receive hands-on training in special methods of therapeutic depth assessment that provide valuable insights that cannot be achieved through ordinary conversation. Furthermore, Short has created useful devices that help increase the ease by which this information is collected and utilised. These devices will be made available for those attending this workshop as learning will be based in large part on experiential exercises and guided practice. These valuable tools will be yours to keep and use as soon as you return to the office.
